Internet Safety Data Security and Privacy 

Internet Safety is an integral part of Milford Central School's Pre-K-12 education program. Internet Safety education includes, but is not limited [to]:

  • The Elementary Guidance Counselor meets with Elementary students and covers topics such as cyber bullying, posting personal information and pictures, chat rooms, instant messaging and being safe on the internet.

  • Webquest: Playing it Safe!

    Topics covered:

    • World Wide Web
    • Browsers
    • Search Engines
    • Types of information on the Internet
    • Safe Surfing 
    • Communication
      • Email
      • Spam
      • Instant messaging
      • Chat rooms
        • Benefits of a chat room
        • Risks of a chat room
      • “Stranger Danger” - people may lie about who they are
    • Netiquette – basic rules of etiquette or courtesy when communicating on the Internet
      • Cyber-bullying

    Emphasis on:

    • Password protection
    • Personal Information protection
      • Posting of personal photos
  • The seventh-grade life skills curriculum includes the Brain Pop which hosts information on Internet Safety!

  • The SafeKids.com | Digital citizenship, online safety & civility website is reviewed the first week of class and periodically revisited when new articles are posted.

    Topics we discuss are:

    • How to Prevent Sexting
    • Cell Phone Safety Tips
    • Tips to Stop Cyberbullying
    • How to Recognize Grooming
    • Social Web Safety Tips for Teens

    A quiz is given to reinforce good safety habits for searching the web and being on social networking sites.  

Internet Connectivity

Affordable Connectivity Program

We would like to share information about the federal Affordable Connectivity Program to help New York State families pay for internet service.

"The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) provides all households in your district $30 a month assistance if they are enrolled in the Free and Reduced-Price School Lunch Program and/or the School Breakfast Program, including through the USDA Community Eligibility Provision."

Wireless Internet Availability in the District 

Clarity Connect offers internet service to approximately 90% of MCS school district residents. You can register for service here or call them at (607) 257-8268 to find out if you are in a location that can access this service, find out about pricing, or any other questions.

If you are an MCS resident whose child attends Milford Central School and your family qualifies for free or reduced-price meals, the cost is: 

  • Base Installation fee: $0
  • Monthly Fee: $19.95

Wireless Hot Spots

Please let the school know if your MCS school district family does not have internet. Wireless Hotspots are available for students to use with their Chromebooks if internet is not available in your home.

Milford Information Technology (MIT) Student Help Desk

MIT Interns help students and staff with their technology, repair Chromebooks, shadow the IT staff, and assist with Chromebook deployment, to name just a few projects! Micah Morgan (2019 Alumnus) and Ms. Sascha Wellman designed the awesome logo! MIT Interns, repair broken Chromebooks, assist staff and students with technology needs, and prepare help videos for students and staff to use! You can identify the “on duty” MIT students when they are in their MIT lab coats funded by the Milford Education Foundation! MIT Student Interns are recommended by a staff member, have the schedule available, must apply, interview, and sign an MIT Student agreement.

STREAM Week

MCS in collaboration and ONC BOCES hosts an annual STREAM Week! What is STREAM? It is a focused effort to promote students’ interest in science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, and math and their connections with education and industry!
