HMS News

GOOD AFTERNOON HMS FAMILIES:

What a fantastic week for rehearsing a successful fire drill, practicing for next week’s all-district track meet at Jonathan Law (which we’ve championed for several years-Go Harborside!), and the Trills and Thrills Music Festival field trip/concert at Lake Compounce!

During this three day weekend, we hope to see you at the Memorial Day parade being held Monday, 5/27/24, stepping off at 10:00 a.m.  The upcoming parade in Milford is part of a nearly 160-year tradition that pays tribute to military personnel who lost their lives in service to their country.  For this year's parade, a local firefighter and Marine will serve as Grand Marshal. Like in past years, Milford's ceremony will include stops at war memorials in the downtown area.

See you back on Tuesday!

Please take a moment to review a few important updates and reminders.

HMS Recap -

Meals-

  • Reminder that parents/students are not allowed to bring in breakfast, lunch, or beverages from restaurants/fast food places due to possible allergies to other students.  These items will not be accepted into the building.

Stay Hydrated-

  • Please have your child/children bring their water bottles to school, as the weather is getting warmer and they will be spending more time outside.  We do not have water cups to pass out throughout the day.  Students are encouraged to even keep an extra bottle in their locker, or bottles of water are available to purchase during lunch hours.

PTO Year End Ice Cream Event -

  • The HMS PTO is looking for volunteers to help with their ice cream event on the last day of school, June 11.

  • Click Ice Cream to learn how you can volunteer!

Drop-off/Pick-up Area Part Two - Please see below regarding our side parking lot.

Drop-off/Pick-up area -

  • Please know that we recently placed a “Student Pick-up/Drop-off Begins Here” sign up at the top loop.

  • Parents/Guardians are asked to pull up as close to the sign as possible before having their child(ren) exit the vehicle. When parents/guardians/family members are not moving up, the street gets backed up and causes traffic at the intersection.

  • As a reminder, the bus loop directly in front of the school is to be used only for buses between 7:40 AM and 8:00 AM.

    • Students are not to be dropped off using the bus loop prior to 8:00 AM.

    • Temporary exceptions will be made on an emergency basis and cleared through the nurse’s office.

MPS Online Library Catalog (Destiny Discover) -

  • Parents/Guardians can now access the district's Online Library Catalog using Destiny Discover.

  • For more information on Destiny Discover and how to access it please click here.
